The Elephant Ears Opening
Would you like to be a huge powerful elephant in chess? There are several ways. Key moves are 1. ..., a6 and 2. ..., h6. Then you can have big ears in chess. Is there any other way to be an elephant in chess? Oh, Yes! Elephants have great memories, so read lots and lots of chess books until you have a brain the size of an elephant!

The Zebra
Maybe you're more of a zebra person. Do you have a totally annoying little brother or sister that copies everything you do until you feel like you are going insane? Mom and Dad are no help, I bet. Don't worry. There's a way to make that little monster useful. 1. a4, a5 2. c4, c5 3. e4, e5 4. g4, g5. See the pretty stripes? Lots of good places for zebras to frolic in this opening. Zebras and horses like outposts. Outposts are squares where zebras are protected by friendly pawns and safe from enemy pawns. How many outposts can you see on the chessboard in the flowerbed? |
